ERP

ErP (Energy-Related Products, Energy Efficiency Directive) is one of the four European CE certification directives, and the rest are: LVD (Safety Directive), EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive), ROHS (Toxic Substance Directive).

CE is a mandatory directive for importing products to EU countries, while ErP has been enforced since September 1, 2013.

EU regulations: All electrical and electronic products sold in Europe must meet ERP testing or ERP certification requirements (energy-saving requirements for products related to European energy consumption)

The new version of the EU CE certification—ERP Directive—2009/125/EC was officially released:

The products tested by ERP are:

Energy-saving lamp ERP certification requirements: NO.244

ERP certification requirements for AV products and IT products: NO.1275

ERP certification requirements for TV products: NO.642

ERP certification requirements for set-top boxes: NO.107

ERP certification requirements for ballasts and fluorescent lamps: NO.245

ERP certification requirements for external power supplies, adapters, and chargers: NO.278

ErP mainly considers the life, light, color, and electrical parameters of lighting products. The main tests are as follows:

1. Goniophotometer test

Measure the light distribution curve to confirm whether it is a directional light or a non-directional light through the cumulative luminous flux

2. Switch test

The switch cycles 15,000 times, with 3 seconds on and 3 seconds off. The failure rate cannot be higher than 5%.

3. Integrating sphere test

1) Start-up time is less than 0.5s

2) Warm-up time is less than 2s

3) Color rendering index (CRI) is greater than 80, outdoor or industrial use is greater than 65 4) Color consistency: the color tolerance in the elliptical coordinates is less than 6 5) Power Factor:

• P≤2 W: no requirement

• 2 W <P≤5 W: PF> 0,4

• 5 W <P≤25 W: PF> 0,5

• P> 25 W: PF> 0,9

4. Aging test

This test mainly considers the comparison between the initial light parameters of the lamp and the light parameters after a certain period of aging test. The most important parameter is the lumen maintenance rate. Starting from September 1, 2013, the lamps must undergo 1000 hours of aging (continuously on). Starting from September 1, 2014, it must undergo 6,000 hours of aging. The failure rate cannot exceed 10%, and the maintenance rate should be greater than 80%.
